Certified Nused - Powered By PlanITROI
Product Evaluation Process

The Certified Nusedsm Quality Process at PlanITROI

Step 1
Hand-Selected PCs

Not every PC can qualify to become a Certified Nused PC.  Before a notebook or desktop system can earn the Certified Nused designation, it is hand-selected from all the PCs received at the PlanITROI facility.  A potential Certified Nused PC must first meet required functionality and operational requirements, as well as certain cosmetic criteria.

Step 2
Potential Problems are Identified
Customers want peace of mind when they are about to purchase a refurbished PC.  That is why as a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher, PlanITROI technicians have been trained to thoroughly examine a potential Certified Nused computer.  Everything is checked, from core functionality to the most basic components such as cover screws and keyboards.  A full OEM diagnostic test on each PC is performed, using software required by the OEM, for a complete evaluation of the PC according to model, configuration specifications, and performance standards.

Step 3
DoD 5220.22-M compliant erasure.  Preparation for a New Operating System

Certified Nused PCs are preinstalled with a new, licensed, genuine Microsoft Windows XP operating system.  To prepare the PC for this installation all hard drives are first completely and thoroughly wiped and data sanitized.  Customers will be receiving a PC with a “clean” hard drive.

Step 4
Rigorously Reconditioned

To live up to the higher expectations customers have for a Certified Nused PC, each computer must receive a thorough reconditioning. If new parts are required, they are installed.  If the LCD screen image is not sharp and it cannot be repair or replaced, it is removed from the line.  If cosmetically, a PC is not in “Like-New” condition, it will be designated "Scratch & Dent" but it will have the same functionality as a “Like-New” PC.

Step 5
Genuine Microsoft Windows XP Operating System Pre-Installation

Certified Nused PCs are processed by PlanITROI, a select Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher ( MAR).  This means that each PC will have a genuine Microsoft Windows XP operating system and a Certificate of Authenticity ( COA) label affixed to the computer.  Customers buying a Certified Nused PC will likely see two COA labels on the PC, one is for the original operating system installation and the second is for the pre-installed operating system from PlanITROI.

Step 6
Multipoint Quality Control Testing, Meticulous Inspection

To increase customer confidence that each Certified Nused PC will function and look as expected, each PC receives a multipoint quality test.  Among the many tests, batteries are tested to confirm they meet power provision requirements, start-up processes are double-checked, screen images are reviewed for clarity…even the cover latches are checked again.  It is a meticulous process but only the best PCs can be considered for the Certified Nused seal.

Step 7
Beyond Clean

No one wants to handle or type on a PC keyboard that has been in someone else’s hands.  That’s why each Certified Nused PC is not just wiped, it is thoroughly cleansed and keyboards are sanitized.

Step 8
Accessories and Information, All Included

Certified Nused PCs from PlanITROI, regardless of brand, come with new documentation that is designated for that PC.  This information is found in each box, along with the power cord and other core accessories.

Step 9
Packaged For Protection

Before a Certified Nused PC can be shipped out, it is placed in a new box with protective packaging and securely sealed with security tape that guards against damage while being delivered to its new home.
